Touch therapy has been used for hundreds of years in many different cultures. It is a natural and instinctive way too soothe and nurture; a serene being is a happy, calm body and mind. I believe that touch therapy and massage can be used to clear and cleanse the body systems, as the movement encourages the body to work more productively, and that it can ease muscular aches and general stress.
When working with babies, special needs children and adults of all spectrums from autism to ADHD, touch can be used as a tool of communication and help break down barriers that may have arisen. It has been found to encourage positive behaviour in those with autism and ADHD, giving them the opportunity to learn to trust and relax.
My path towards massage started when I was a teenager. I suffered from back problems and turned to Reflexology which proved to be the most effective treatment, sparking my interest in holistic massage and alternative therapies. After working in the Media industry and sitting in front of computers for 8 years I decided it was time for a change in career. The pull towards massage became irresistible and I trained in the evenings, graduating with an ITEC in Holistic Swedish Massage.
I have worked at The Sanctuary Spa in Covent Garden as a massage therapist where I undertook much extra training, as well as treating regular private clients for the past 3 years.
My enthusiasm and passion for the positive effects of massage has led me to use my training in massage therapy to work with special needs children and young adults at an inner city respite centre. I am also qualified as a Baby Massage Instructor Additionally, I am a trainer for Shen Mantra which supplies a number of spa's with their unique Thai Compresses and natural detox product range.
Moving to Lymington and the New Forest area has given me the opportunity to set up as a mobile massage therapist and offer clients unique treatments. I look forward to hearing from you.
